Philip Thornton Alexander, of King George Co., VA, was killed in a duel in 1783 by Needham Langhorne Washington, (d. 1835).
If this is the same Philip Thornton Alexander, he himself was killed on March 4, 1783 in a duel that same year, in Alexandria, VA, by Laurence Washington as appeared in "The Virginia Gazette" of 19 Apr 1783.
