James Lewis Ashby, CSA, killed in battle, gallant soldier.
John William Ashby, CSA, was a member of the 12th Virginia Cavalry. He was killed by the last shot fired at Appomattox Court House, April 9, 1865, the morning of the surrender. He was, as his brother, a gallant soldier.
