John Carter, of "Sandy River", Pittsylvania Co., VA.
Spencer Carter, appeared in a list of Westmoreland Co. slave owners in 1782 as owner of three servants. After his father's death he purchased the home place form the other heirs, and was living in Lancaster in 1785, with a wife and five children.
