Margaret Brent

Margaret Brent was active in political affairs in Maryland and in 1648 demanded a vote in the Maryland General Assembly, on the grounds that she was the sole executrix of the late Honorable Leonard Calvert, Governor of Maryland. She appeared before the Maryland Courts and her name is sometimes rendered in those records, Margaret Brent, Gentleman! She was the first woman suffragist in America and after her removal to Virginia lived at "Peace". Giles, Margaret and Mary Brent received large land patents in Virginia and Mistress Margaret Brent was the first patentee of the lands upon which the present cities of Alexandria and Fredericksburg were to rise, according to Chester Horton Brent in "Descendants of Col. Giles Brent, Capt. George Brent, and Robert Brent, Gent.", 1946.

Charles Alexander died young.


Richard Brown Rev.

Rev. Richard Brown, was minister of the Scottish Episcopal Church. He was deposed for speaking against the Covenant in 1644.
