Notes

Henry Corbin Hon.

Henry Corbin was the progenitor of the Corbin family in Virginia.
He settled in the parish of Stratton Manor, King & Queen County, Virginia, upon emigrating from London, England in 1654. He lived at "Buckingham House", Middlesex Co., VA. The Stratton Manor parish in King and Queen County, Virginia, was named after the Corbin's home in Stratton, Cornwall County, England. He was registrar from 1663 to 1667, and was one of the vestrymen appointed to write to England for a minister for the parish. He was an influential member of the King's council; burgess from Lancaster County in 1657, 1659, and 1660.

Laetitia Corbin

Gravestone inscription for Lettuce (Corbin) Lee in Cople Parish, Westmoreland Co., VA:
"Near by is interred the body of Lettuce, his faithful wife, daughter of Henry Corbyn, Gentleman. A most affectionate mothe, she was also distinguished by piety toward God, charity to the poor, and kindness to all. She died on the 6th day of October, 1706, in the 49th year of her age".-Meade.

After her death, her husband Richard "The Scholar" Lee, was left grieving for a spouse he called "a most affectionate mother". At her marriage in 1674, Laetitia "Lettice" Corbin had come to the Lee family bearing land and wealth, thanks to the success of her famed parent, Henry Corbin.
