Nathaniel M. Cartmell

Nathaniel M. Cartmell died in California July 7, 1898 while on a visit to his daughter Fannie. He now lies in the Mt. Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, Virginia. He was sheriff of Frederick County, Virginia prior to the Civil War; then proprietor of the Taylor Hotel, Capon Springs, and partner of Col. Peyton, of White Sulphur Springs - all famous hostelries in that day. His wife, Ellen, died February 21, 1901, while temporarily a guest in the Taylor Hotel.


Patrick Henry Cabell Dr.

Patrick Henry Cabell was educated at the Richmond Medical College, and in the medical department of the University of Pennsylvania. He was physician in Selma, Alabama. In Selma, he was a Confederate post surgeon during the war. He contributed to the medical journals of his day, and attained to eminence in his profession.
