Capt. William Armistead, of Virginia, North Carolina, and Alabama. He enteredt the Continental Army at the early age of 16, and served until the surrender at Yorktown; moved with his parents to Randolph Co., NC, and again in 1819 to Clark Co., AL. His gravestone reads: "In memory of Capt. William Armistead, a soldier in the Revolution, a native of Virginia, who departed this life March 1, 1843, aged eighty years".
