Hon. Cuthbert Bullitt was a distinguished lawyer, member of the Assembly (VA) 1777 to 1787, and at one time Speaker of the House; of Convention, 1775-76-88; of Committee of Safety; in 1788, by a joint ballot of Senate and House he was elected additional Judge of the Supreme Court of Virginia. He entered 8,000 acres of land in Kentucky, on the north fork of Licking Creek, 1788.
Col. William Brockenbrough, of Westmoreland Co., VA. he was orphaned the year after his birth and raised by John Tayloe of "Mount Airy". "Mount Airy", built by Colonel John Tayloe, later belonged to Colonel John Tayloe, III who built "Octagon House" in Washington, DC.
